A Little Class

In the crass smear-off between Don Imus (burning question: does his racism exceed his idiocy?) and his detractors (burning question: does their hypocrisy exceed their opportunism?), one group has emerged as showing real class. That would be the Rutger's women's basketball team. There have been no hysterics, no headline-seeking, and no revenge from that side of the court. Instead, they asked for an apology and accepted it when it was given. That's classy. Maybe in his next job Don Imus can take to insulting radio personalities and fringe politicians; those insults will have a better chance of sticking. And maybe the race-baiters and media moguls can learn a lesson in maturity and perspective from a group of college kids.

Chops,

The basketball team held a nationally televised press conference. They also stated that Imus's comments took away everything they had worked for that season. I would agree thaqt their response was classy but describing them as non headline seeking and non hysterical might be taking it a bit too far. While they shone by comparison to everyone else involved in the situation, I think you're taking you praise a bit too far.
